I was walking past Luca Luca on the ever-impeccable upper east side yesterday when a superbly coiffed lady in her fifties exited the store laden down with lacquered shopping bags. She was conversing with a "Fredrique" on her cell phone as she made her way toward her waiting chauffeured Cadillac SUV. "Of course I can meet you Fredrique dahling," she said, "I'm just now stepping into my ESCALADE. I'll be there in minutes."
I think this is hilarious. Why is necessary for her to specify the exact make and model of her mode of transport? Why not just say, I'm getting in my car and will be there in minutes? Maybe to some its not so much getting from point A to point B, but that you be conveyed there in style. Dahling.
